Morning drive-by shooting being investigated in North Amarillo

Amarillo police are now investigating a drive-by shooting that happened Thursday morning.

It happened at the apartments in the 1600 block of North Fairfield Street in North Amarillo at about 10:35 a.m.

A man who was painting the apartments told police an older-model white Jeep Cherokee drove by and the man inside fired two or three shots.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Officers found one cartridge case in the street and one impact point in the wall.

No one was found in the immediate area. According to police, the suspect may have been shooting at the painter.

Police said the vehicle drove off after shooting.

The man inside was described as being a black man wearing glasses. He had a mustache and was wearing a white hoodie.
