More than 70 volunteers come to prepare, serve food on Christmas Day

Volunteers at the Salvation Army have been working for months just for this time of year.

More than 70 volunteers came out to serve food at the Salvation Army on Christmas Day.

"We have been planning this, actually since the day I started employment here. So back in June we started talking about it. We actually started making the preparations in October and by November, we were well on our way, said Lowis McDonald with the Salvation Army.

Kerry Luke has been volunteering for 30 years.

"I just love coming out and blessing people on Christmas because that's the meaning of Christmas," Luke said. "Every Christmas morning, this is how I start... by coming out to serve."

Lowis said she was pleasantly surprised to see such a large amount of volunteers.

"Unbelievably large number. I am overwhelmed. It's been awesome. There is somebody for every need we have," Lowis said.
