Sunday afternoon at approximately 4:21 p.m. a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper noticed a suspicious person at a truck stop while fueling his patrol car. The trooper made contact with the person who was driving a Dodge pickup and towing a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
According to DPS, the trooper searched the vehicles while talking with the individual and found 17 bundles of cocaine inside of the jeep. The estimated value of the cocaine is more than $1.6 million. The drugs were allegedly being transferred from Phoenix Arizona to Cleveland Ohio.
45-year-old Lamont Ellis was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into Carson County Jail.
