Military men and women honored at Armed Forces Day Banquet

America Supports You Texas hosted its annual Armed Forces Day Banquet Saturday in honor of men and women that have served our country.

â??They have done so much for us, they kept us where we are today,â?? said Ginger Boyd of the America Supports You Texas.

Hundreds of local veterans and their families and friends came out to show their gratitude.

â??It feels real good to celebrate the banquet with the veterans that are here,â?? said local veteran Harold Lewis.

Colonel Clayton Hoffman served our country for 31 years. He said soldiers arenâ??t the only ones being honored during the banquet, but also their families.

â??Our families, our wives, our children are standing behind us and that what makes it possible to serve 31 years because of the strong support of the families,â?? said Colonel Hoffman.

There was a memorial wall to honor the lives of the men and women that lost their lives while fighting for our country. Their families were welcomed to the banquet as gold star members.

â??Every year we get more and more gold star families,â?? said Boyd. â??Itâ??s just the only thing we can really do is serve them for one night as they have served us.â??

All of the proceeds made at the banquet will be used to support military and their families.
