Man suffers multiple injuries after falling into 20-foot-deep trench

First responders rescued a 45-year-old man out of a 20-foot-deep trench after he fell Thursday morning.

According to the Amarillo Fire Department, the man fell into the trench at a construction site near the area of South Georgia Street and Loop 335.

AFD said the man fell as he was climbing down a ladder into the trench and the ladder "failed."

AFD said crews successfully got him out of the trench around 11:15 a.m. The man reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is being taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The Amarillo Police Department, AMS, AFD, Randall County Fire Department and other agencies assisted with the rescue.
