Man suffers life threatening injuries, APD investigates

Amarillo police officers were dispatched at 9:07 p.m. on March 17 to the 3800 block of Lewis Lane for a fight in progress.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim incoherent in the front yard with a laceration to the head. Initial investigation determined that the suspect, Jon Thome Loehe, 29, drove to the residence and got into a physical alteration in the front yard. There may have been more than one person assaulting the victim.
At some point, the victim was able to get away to retrieve a shotgun from his residence. The victim's wife went inside to make sure someone called 9-1-1, and when she returned her husband was lying on the ground with a large laceration to the head. The suspect and the shotgun were gone.
Officers were able to locate the suspect and the shotgun that had been taken from the victim. Loehe was transported and booked into Randall County Detention Center on a charge of Aggravated Assault causing serious bodily injury. The victim was transported to a local hospital to treat his ijuries. This incident remains under investigation.
