Man pleads guilty to murdering 97-year-old neighbor

Gregorio Felan

The man accused of murdering his 97-year-old neighbor in Borger pleaded guilty in court on Thursday.

Gregorio Felan, 48, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to the April 2011 murder of 97-year-old Lois Kimbrell.

Authorities said Felan murdered Kimbrell in the course of sexually assaulting her. She suffered multiple stab wounds as well as blunt force head trauma.

Kimbrell was found dead in her home by a Meals on Wheels volunteer, police said.

By pleading guilty, District Attorney Mark Snider said Felan waved any future appeal in this case.

Snider said he, along with Kimbrell's family and local law enforcement, is pleased with the outcome.
