Man leads police on high speed chase through three counties

32-year-old Eric Wayne Brown was arrested after taking police on a high speed chase through three Texas Panhandle counties.

According to Amarillo Police Department, an APD officer saw a vehicle traveling a little faster then an "idle" speed near 45th and the Canyon E-way. When the officer ran the tag on the vehicle, the report came back that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Kansas.

As the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to stop and a chase ensued. During the chase APD said Brown would speed up and slow down almost to a stop and could be seen reaching for something in the passenger seat while driving the stolen red Monte Carlo. The high speed chase left the Amarillo city limits and finally ended 7 miles east of the city near Carson County Road C.

Brown was the only occupant of the vehicle and police believe his movement in the vehicle was to conceal marijuana they later found in the vehicle. He was arrested and booked into Carson County Jail for stolen auto, evading in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana along with several other charges.

APD said that no one was injured during the incident.
