Man booked after hit-and-run puts 3-year-old in hospital

Furat Ali, 47, was arrested after a hit-and-run incident that put a 3-year-old in the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A local child has been sent to the hospital following a hit and run accident around 6:30 yesterday near the 1100 block of S. Mississippi.

The 3-year-old girl was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

According to Amarillo Police Department, the suspect didn't stop, but was later arrested.

Witnesses believed that the driver of the blue Ford lived in the area and provided information tat allowed officers to locate his home in the 3100 block of W. 11th.

Officers initially found no one home, but about an hour-and-a-half later, officers saw Furat Ali, 47, walk out on the porch.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of accident causing injury/death. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad.

There has been a concern in that area for kids because cars are parked along the street, which makes it tough for drivers to see kids walking or playing.
