Man arrested after robbery, pointing fake gun a police

Monday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m. Amarillo Police Department officers responded to a robbery call in the 2800 block of Amarillo Boulevard East.
The victim told police that the suspect was armed with a pistol and gave police a description of the suspect. Police searched the area and finally located a man matching the suspect description in the 800 block of north Manhattan.
APD identified the suspect as 29-year-old Dillon Alex Steele. Steele attempted to run from officers and pointed his pistol at officers. According to APD, the officers then fired their weapons at Steele. Steele was not hit with any of the bullets and as police tried to apprehend Steele he fought with them until he was tased by police.
The pistol carried by Steele was a realistic plastic replica, according to APD.
Steele and one of the officers involved were taken to a local hospital where they were treated with non life-threatening injuries. Steele was later booked into the Potter County Correction Center for aggravated robbery and aggravated assault on a Peace Officer.
