48-year-old Terry Willis was arrested for aggravated assault after threatening a victim with a replica of an antique pistol Saturday evening.
Officers were sent to the apartments at 900 Charlotte Street on a report of a fight involving several people in the parking lot. The first responding officer found a man matching the description of the suspect holding the handgun. After the officer stepped from his vehicle and ordered the suspect to drop the weapon, the suspect threw the gun down and ran from the officer.
After pursuit across the parking lot, Willis was taken into custody. He was also in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
The 26-year old victim had cuts and swellings on his face and head. The victim said that Willis had pointed the replica gun at him and threatened to kill him.
Willis was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest or detention and possession of marijuana.
â??As to whether or not itâ??s an aggravated assault, the attorneyâ??s will have to decide whether or not a replica gun can fill in all the elements for that charge,â?? said Sergeant Brent Barbee. â??But at the very minimum thereâ??s still an offense for threatening someone in public or giving that type of fear and weâ??ll let the attorneyâ??s look at that and decide whatâ??s appropriate.â??
This was one of two reports over the weekend where the suspects were in possession of a replica gun.
