An Amarillo man was arrested for criminal mischief and public intoxication after slashing the tires of five cars and breaking a window of a local business.
On Aug. 12, Amarillo police officers were dispatched just after 9:38 p.m. to the 1700 block of W. 6th in reference to vandalism.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a victim who stated that a man wearing a red t-shirt and carrying a backpack had just slashed several tires on different vehicles and was last seen walking eastbound from the location.
As officers began looking for the suspect, they were flagged down by additional victims regarding more slashed tires and, in one case, two broken windows to a business.
Officers continued searching for the suspect and located a man matching the description at 6th and Monroe.
The male was in possession of a pocket knife, but the blade was now missing. It is believed that the blade broke during one of the vandalisms.
The suspect was taken into custody while additional officers continued their investigation.
One vehicle had three tires slashed, one vehicle had two tires slashed, and three additional vehicles had one tire slashed.
The suspect is identified as Kelly Lee Lamberson, 38, of Amarillo.
Lamberson was arrested and booked into Potter County Correction Center on charges of Criminal Mischief over $1,500 less than $20,000 and public intoxication.
