Learn how to become an Amarillo Zoo volunteer

Are you looking for a wild way to help your community, learn new skills, make new friends and have a fun time? The Amarillo Zoo has the answer!

On Saturday, September 7th the Zoo is holding a volunteer recruitment and open house for anyone ages 13 and over that would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the Zoo. If you are a young person or an adult interested in exciting opportunities to work with our animals, educate our guests and help with special events, come to the Zoo's Education Center at 1:00 p.m. on that day to learn more about volunteering at the zoo.

Interviews will be conducted during the open house for those wishing to apply. For those accepted into the program there will be a $25.00 fee to cover the cost of uniform t-shirts and training manual. Volunteers will also be required to attend a training class.

The Zoo offers several positions to fit a variety of interests. You can apply to become an animal area volunteer and assist keepers with the daily care of our animals, or if you enjoy talking to people you may become a zoo education volunteer and help staff our discovery stations and live animal encounter areas and help our guests enjoy their zoo visit.
