Komen Greater Amarillo Race for the Cure sets new goal


5,000 people packed downtown Amarillo today for the Susan G. Komen Greater Amarillo Race for the Cure, which kicks-off National Breast Cancer awareness month Oct. 1.

"The teams that are over there all have amazing stories and they've been working so hard to raise huge amounts of money for us and they're having a great time. It means something different to everyone else but it's special to almost everyone that's out here.


his year the
Komen Greater Amarillo Affiliate is setting its goal at $100,000 to be raised by the end of October. Those funds will help pay for services here in the Panhandle including: free mammograms and diagnostics, and medical treatment for those who qualify and need surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation.
