Is the world ending? Twinkies maker going out of business

The maker of the famous sweet treat Twinkies is going out of business.

Hostess Brands, who also makes Wonder Bread, said it is laying off all of its 18,500 worked.

Why? The company said a nationwide worker strike is to blame. It said the stroke crippled its ability to make and deliver its product at many locations.

In January, Hostess filed for Chapter 11 protection. That was its second trip through bankruptcy court in less than 10 years.

The company said it warned its employees it would file a motion in bankruptcy court and unwind its business if normal operation didn't resume by Thursday evening.
