An inmate at Curry County Jail has filed a civil lawsuit against Curry County for violation of constitutional rights.
Veronica Galvan, plaintiff, was severely beaten by another inmate on Feb. 1, 2014, at the Curry County Detention Center. Galvan states that in retaliation, the county moved her to another facility where she was forced to remove her clothing in front of a closed-circuit television monitor viewed by three male detention officers.
The plaintiff also claims that her medical needs were ignored, and that the facility is filled with toxic mold.
Galvan is asking for damages, punitive damages, attorney's fees and injunctive relief.
