Wednesday morning at approximately 6:50 a.m. the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a crash on Interstate 40 and FM 1912.
According to a news release from DPS, a 2003 Ford F150 was travelling eastbound on Interstate 40 when icy roads caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The vehicle skid across the center median and westbound lanes. The vehicle then struck a guardrail, overturned and finally came to a stop. 56-year-old Serapio Rodriguez and his passenger Eliseo Quintalla-Serna, 42, were in the vehicle at the time of the wreck.
Rodriquez and Quintalla-Serna were transported to North West Texas Hospital in Amarillo. Rodriquez later died at the hospital. Quintalla-Serna is in stable condition at North West Texas Hospital.
