I-40 traffic stop nets DPS 6 pounds of meth

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers stopped a vehicle along I-40 and discovered more than six pounds of methamphetamine.
On Sunday, about 7:30 pm, a DPS trooper conducted a routine traffic stop of a 1999 Dodge Caravan traveling eastbound on I-40, for a traffic violation.
The trooper was given permission to search and found six pounds of meth, in five bundles, stuffed into the spare tire.
The driver, Jose Luis Cortez, 48 of Pacoima, Calif. And Rosa Elana Arizmendi, 25, of Panorama, Calif. were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a first degree felony.
Both were booked into the Potter County Jail.
The meth is valued at over $224,000 and was being transported from Pacoima, Calif. to Des Nashville, Tenn. for possible distribution.
