Hundreds of Panhandle residents still without power, says Xcel Energy

Xcel customers from Panhandle to Perryton were without power thanks to ice and high winds, according to Xcel Energy.

As of 4:30 p.m., 5,976 customers were without power. Ice and high winds caused power lines to swing wildly, leaving many without power for all of Tuesday.

Late Thursday
afternoon, power was restored to Darrouzett, Follett and Lipscomb bringing 732 customers back online. The city of Higgins remains without power, but Xcel said their services should be returned by the end of the end of Tuesday.

Xcel said customers may be without power into tomorrow afternoon, especially in rural areas. Xcel brought in additional crews from Roswell, Clovis and Hobbs in New Mexico. They also brought in personnel from Seminole, Lubbock, Levelland, Littlefield, Plainview, and Dumas in Texas.
