Health Minute: Coffee perks up blood vessels

Taking aspirin at night instead of in the morning may help reduce the risk for heart problems, according to preliminary research presented at this year's American Heart Association's scientific meeting. Another preliminary study presented at the heart meeting looked at how coffee appears to perk up our blood vessels.

A small study with 27 people found that drinking a 5 ounce cup of caffeinated coffee seemed to help small blood vessels work better. T here is conflicting research about the benefits and risks of drinking coffee. Some studies have shown that coffee in moderation may be good for the heart, but scientists aren't sure why. Better blood flow in our small vessels may be part of the answer.
