Gunshot wounds send one to hospital after domestic dispute

One is transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds to the arm and abdoment after what APD said appears to have been a domestic dispute.

On April 9, this case was referred to the 47th District Attorney's Office. Charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family member were accepted on Marcellus Ywain Adams, 46. A warrant was issued, and on April 10, Adams surrendered himself and was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the warrant.

APD investigators have confirmed that this was a domestic dispute. The vicim's injuries are non-life threatening. The victim was in the Yukon parked just east of 5th and Florida, facing west. The victim was in the driver's seat, and was shot by the suspect standing outside the vehicle. The victim got out of the vehicle and ran to 503 S. Florida. The vehicle rolled across Florida to strike the fence at 500 S. Florida. The suspect drove away, possibly eastbound from the location, in a dark colored SUV-type vehicle.

On April 7, at around 7:42 p.m., Amarillo police officers were sent to 503 S. Florida at a reported shooting.

When they arrived, officers found a black female, 33, in the back driveway of the home. She had what appeared to be gunshot wounds in her arm and abdomen. Officers believe that she was in a domestic dispute with a black male.

Initial investigation indicates that the man and woman had been in a gray GMC Yukon that was parked on 5th Ave. near Florida at the time of the shooting.

She was in the driver's seat of the vehicle when she was shot. The suspect then fled in a dark colored SUV.

Her car traveled along 5th to Florida before going over a curb and stopping when it hit a fence. She got out of the vehicle and was found across the street. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

At this point, her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. There have been no arrests in this incident.
