On April 7, at around 7:42 p.m., Amarillo police officers were sent to 503 S. Florida at a reported shooting.

When they arrived, officers found a black female, 33, in the back driveway of the home. She had what appeared to be gunshot wounds in her arm and abdomen. Officers believe that she was in a domestic dispute with a black male.

Initial investigation indicates that the man and woman had been in a gray GMC Yukon that was parked on 5th Ave. near Florida at the time of the shooting.

She was in the driver's seat of the vehicle when she was shot. The suspect then fled in a dark colored SUV.

Her car traveled along 5th to Florida before going over a curb and stopping when it hit a fence. She got out of the vehicle and was found across the street. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

At this point, her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. There have been no arrests in this incident.
