Work may be a little louder than usual Friday.
That's because it's National Take Your Dog To Work Day. Pet lovers from across the country will bring along their four-legged friends to their jobs.
This day was first celebrated back in 1999 to show that dogs can be great companions and to encourage adoptions for homeless dogs.
If you're looking for a pet, now is the perfect time to adopt! Hundreds of dogs are available at the Amarillo SPCA (11901 South Coulter Street) and the Amarillo Panhandle Humane Society (3501 South Osage Street.)
It is estimated that more than 10,500 dogs are euthanized every year in Amarillo, according to Amarillo Animal Control.
If now's not the time to adopt a furry pet, you can help the cause and 'like' Pronews 7's Facebook Page. It's the Facebook Charity Challenge. When we hit 11,000 fans, we are donating $1,000 to the Amarillo SPCA. That money can go a long way at the shelter, helping with veterinary bills and food costs. An APPMA survey in 2006 showed that one in five companies allow pets in the workplace. The same survey also indicated that millions of employees felt that pets at the aworkplace led to a more creative environment, decreased absenteeism, improved productivity and helped co-worked get along better.
