Former St. Andrews coach arrested and charged

Timothy Stahl charged with online solicitation of a minor

The former athletic director for St. Andrews school was arrested Thursday and charged with online solicitation of a minor.

ProNews 7 first broke the story about the firing of Tim Stahl Tuesday evening on ProNews 7 at 10:00. At that time, Head Master Ron Ferguson, said Stahl was fired due to improper electronic communications between a staff member and a student. Ferguson refused to comment on the matter any further only adding that Stahl had been with the school since 2000.

Amarillo Police said they started investigating a report that Stahl had communicated with a female child under the age of 17 through the internet and that the pair knew each other. Police added the content of that communication was sexually explicit in that Stahl described physical contact with the victims breast and buttocks.

After reviewing physical evidence of the communication and speaking to the victim and witnesses, the case was reviewed by the 47th District Attorney's office. Prosecutors accepted a charge of online solicitation of a minor.

Police said there is no allegation that the sexual contact in the communication actually occurred, Stahl was arrested at his home Thursday afternoon and booked into the Potter County Jail.
