Former Amarillo neurosurgeon arrested again for sexual assault of child, indecency
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) —
Amarillo doctor Jeffrey Donald Cone, Sr. was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center for four counts of sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child, sexual contact on May 18.
Cone entered a not guilty plea to previous sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child charges on Jan. 4. The doctor also had a lawsuit filed against him for sexually abusing a minor on Dec. 5.
The doctor's license was first suspended by on Jan. 3 after Cone was arrested for sexual assault of a child on Dec. 21, 2017. The Potter County Sheriff's Office said that he was arrested for fondling and rape.
An attorney representing one of the minors accusing Cone of abusing them said that more than 10 victims came forward to accuse the former neurosurgeon of abuse.
The Texas Medical Board cited Cone for the allegations, forcing him to surrender his medical license on March 16.
According to records on the Potter County Sheriff's Office book-in records, Cone bonded out on $15,000 after his arrest on Friday.
