Folks in Canyon want water park

On a hot summer day a week before school starts, few places are better than a city pool.

But Canyonâ??s city pool is showing its age.

It was built in 1955.

Canyon City Manager Randy Criswell says, "Weâ??ve been talking about the need for a pool replacement as long as I can remember."

Monday night at the Canyon City Commission meeting the Pool Committee presented its research to the Commission.

Pool Manager Andrew Neighbors says, "We researched Pampa, Dumas and Sunray. We looked at their pools and I talked to the managers there."

Pools arenâ??t normally built today. The new trend is water parks.

The Committee estimates a new water park in Conner Park could cost as much as $6-million.

The City Commission didnâ??t make any decision at that time.
