5 Amarillo men at center of sting operation targeting child predators indicted

Five men indicted for online sex crime. (ABC 7 Amarillo)

A Randall County grand jury indicted five men on Wednesday for online solicitation of a minor for sexual conduct.

All five of the men were arrested back in September following a sting operation involving the Texas Department of Public Safety in which seven men were arrested for various charges. DPS was assisted by Homeland Security and the West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) Police Department.

The men are facing second degree felonies, which are punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Armando Baca, 53, was charged on September 23 and posted a $25,000 bond on September 27.

Michael James Gibbons, 39, was charged on September 23 and posted a $25,000 bond on September 27.

Ezra Shon Gose, 21, was charged on September 22 and posted a $25,000 bond on September 28.

Samuel Moctezuma, 40, was charged on September 23 and posted a $25,000 bond on September 27.

Kenan Griffith White, 47, was charged on September 24 and posted a $25,000 bond on September 27.

Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 344 into law in 2015, in order to protect children from online predators. Online solicitation of a minor includes a person 17 or older using electronic communication to attempt to get a minor to engage in sexual conversations or activity.

Online solicitation charges have been known to come from undercover police sting operations.
