      Firefighters fight house fire in extreme heat

      The home at 12211 S. Western caught fire at about 5:30 p.m., but no injuries were reported and firefighters plan to remain on scene throughout the night.

      According to the R andall County Sheriff's Office firefighters will remain on the scene of a house fire in South Amarillo for most of the night.

      T he Randall County Fire Department (RCFD) first responded to a house fire at about 5:30 p.m., at 12211 S. Western.

      The home was fully engulfed in flames when RCFD called for assistance from the Amarillo, Canyon and Lake Tanglewood Volunteer Fire Departments. It took firefighters more than two hours to get the fire under control. Officials say there are 35 firefighters on scene, along with 15 fire trucks. Randall County officials say the home belongs to an elderly woman, and that she was not injured in the fire.

      I nvestigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
