Emergency crews working fatal wreck near Fritch

UPDATE: According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, around 7p.m. Saturday, Michael Jack Dobbs, 36, of Fritch was driving a 2000 Dodge Stratus westbound on State Highway 136 near Fritch when he traveled into the eastbound lanes.

Rachael Danielle Stevens, 28, of Amarillo was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee eastbound and attempted to avoid a collision with Dobbs, but was struck head-on.

DPS officials said Dobbs and Stevens were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say Stevens was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, Dobbs was not wearing a seatbelt.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.


Emergency crews are working the scene of a possible fatal accident along State Highway 136, according to the Hutchinson County Fire Department.

Saturday evening, crews were called to SH 136 east of Fritch near the Fritch Fortress Road on a report of a multiple vehicle accident.

HCFD reports traffic is being diverted down Eagle Boulevard and 687 for the duration of the investigation.

They say there is a possibility SH 136 may be shutdown Sunday for the Texas Department of Public Safety to investigate.
