Elementary student raise money for Special needs playground

Teachers and Students raise awareness to help get money for a new playground.

The sunny weather helped kick off a major fund-raising campaign for some elementary students in Canyon.

Students at Reeves-Hinger Elementary school in Canyon, walked during their physical education and music classes to promote health, exercise and raise awareness for fitness in the community.

Jodi Davis, Special Needs Teacher with the Canyon Independent School District, said, "We have three different playgrounds and it will put new equipment on the playgrounds."

Currently the three playground areas are badly in need of new equipment to accommodate Pre-K through 4th grad students with special needs.

"We have a large population here, of special needs student and it will also provide special needs equipment for them which we don't have right now.

There's not any parks in canyon that have any specialized equipment for them and it's the first school that will have specialized equipment on it."
