Driver in US 287 hit and run found

UPDATE: DPS troopers have found the driver of the semi that hit the man who was found dead in a median along US 287 Wednesday morning. Authorities said the driver stopped at the Flying J Truck Stop on I-40 East. The truck has been confirmed as being involved in the hit and run, and the driver has been identified.
The name of the victim has not been released at this time. The crash investigation is on going and charges are pending the conclusion of the investigation.
UPDATE 11:40: Authorities are investigating a hit and run that left one person dead. According to the Department of Public Safety, at 8:20 Wednesday morning a tractor-trailer driven by an unknown driver was traveling westbound on US 287 about one mile east of Amarillo. An unidentified black male was hit and killed by the truck.
Troopers said the truck is red, and should have damage to the left fender and headlight. The fender had the number 179 on it, and may be part of a larger number printed somewhere else on the vehicle.

UPDATE 10:45: Investigators are investigating a hit and run, that left one person dead Wednesday morning. Around eight, according to scanner traffic a body was spotted in the median of US 287 north, just east of Amarillo. The Department of Public Safety and Potter County responded to the scene. There they found a body, and DPS troopers said it appears to be a hit and run fatal.
We are waiting on more information on the investigation, and will update with more information as it becomes available.
Pronews 7 has learned that the Potter County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body that has been found in the middle of the U.S. 287.
