DPS Trooper seizes more than $2.7M in heroin

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Thursday on IH-40, yielding over 15 pounds of heroin valued at over 2.7 million dollars.
At approximately 5:22 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Ford Five Hundred passenger car traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.
The driver of the Blazer was identified as Bianca Dinora Mendez, 23, of Cypress, Calif. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered seven vacuum sealed bundles of heroin in the seats.
Mendez was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City.
