      DPS trooper seizes five pounds of meth during traffic stop


      One person was arrested Thursday after a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper found five pounds of meth during a traffic stop on Interstate 40 near Conway in Carson County.


      The trooper stopped the Chevrolet Tahoe at approximately 1:19 p.m. Thursday afternoon for a traffic violation. During the stop, the trooper searched the vehicle and found four bundles of methamphetamine inside the spare tire. The estimated value of the drugs is more than $180,000.


      60-year-old Lorenzo Gutierrez Lopez was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Carson County Jail.


      According to DPS, the drugs were allegedly being transported from California to Atlanta, Ga.
