DPS trooper seizes $44K worth of marijuana

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper found more than 98 pounds of marijuana on Christmas Eve.

According to DPS, Tuesday night at approximately 5:37 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a Chevrolet Suburban that was traveling east on Interstate 40 near Bushland for a traffic violation.

During the stop the trooper discovered 19 bundles of marijuana in the vehicle. DPS said the estimated value of the drugs is approximately $44,000.

DPS identified the occupants of the vehicle as 32-year-old Jemore Stone Vaungh and 35-year-old Nicola Neisha Kerr-Stone. Vaungh and Kerr-Stone were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Potter County Jail.

According to DPS, the drugs were allegedly being transported from Tucson Ariz. to Fayetteville North Carolina.
