DPS trooper finds $386K of meth during traffic stop

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper seized more than $386,000 worth of methamphetamine Saturday during a traffic stop on Interstate 40 in Carson County.

DPS said the trooper stopped a Honda Civic on Interstate 40 near Conway in Carson County for a traffic violation at approximately 12:35 p.m. Saturday afternoon. During the stop the trooper searched the vehicle and found 12 bundles of meth weighing approximately 10 pounds inside the trunk.

DPS identified the driver as 39-year-old Roberto Fernandez Jr. of Yuma, Ariz. Fernandez was arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for possession controlled substance.

According to DPS, the meth was being transported to Des Moines, Iowa from Yuma, Ariz.
