DPS seizes $631K of marijuana in Carson County traffic stop

The Texas Department of Public Safety seized 104 pounds of marijuana after a traffic stop in Carson County on Sunday.

According to DPS officials, a DPS Trooper stopped a 2017 Nissan Sentra traveling east on I-40 near Conway for a traffic violation around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday.

A DPS canine unit arrived on scene and alerted the Trooper, who then discovered five large cellophane-wrapped bundles of marijuana in the trunk.

Authorities said the illegal drugs are worth approximately $631,000.

The driver, 40-year-old Saul Ahedo and passenger, 45-year-old Sergio Grajales, both of Los Angeles, were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. The two were transported and booked into the Carson County jail.

The drugs were allegedly being transported from Los Angeles to Chicago.
