DPS seizes $501K of marijuana in Oldham County traffic stop

The Texas Department of Public Safety seized approximately $501,000 of marijuana during a Oldham County traffic stop on Sunday.

According to DPS officials, a DPS Trooper stopped a 2016 Chevrolet Impala traveling east on I-40 near Vega for a traffic violation around 10:50 a.m. on Sunday.

A DPS canine arrived on scene and alerted the Trooper on the vehicle, who discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana inside four duffel bags in the truck.

The drugs were more than 82 pounds and worth approximately $501,000.

The driver, 63-year-old Louis Boyd of Flagler Beach, Florida, was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Boyd was transported and booked into the Oldham County jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from San Francisco to Flagler Beach, Florida.
