A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a vehicle Monday night on Interstate 40. The vehicle was traveling eastbound and was stopped near Conway in Carson County for a traffic violation.
At the time of the stop, the trooper searched the vehicle and found five bundles of methamphetamine hidden in a door panel of the vehicle. DPS said the value of the illegal substance is more than $199,000.
33-year-old Cassie Lynn Mercado and 32-year-old Candida Odilia Romero were inside the vehicle. Mercado and Romero were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Carson County Jail.
DPS said the drugs were allegedly being transported from Pheoniz Ariz., to Oklahoma City Okla.
