Two people were arrested Monday after a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper found more than 360 pounds of marijuana during an Interstate 40 traffic stop.
DPS said the trooper stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation near Conway in Carson County. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as 24-year-old Ashley N. Kubatzke and 25-year-old Bradley T. Monson, both of Rockford Ill. During the stop the trooper searched the vehicle and found 15 bundles of marijuana inside the trunk. DPS said the estimated value of the drugs is almost $164,000.
Both Kubatzke and Monson were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Carson County Jail. According to DPS, the marijuana was being transported from Tucson, Arizona to Rockford Ill.
