The Texas Department of Public Safety reports from Saturday until 4p.m. Sunday, they responded to 119 accidents during the winter storm that gripped the Texas Panhandle the first weekend of winter.
"Many of these included multiple vehicles within an accident and/or additional wrecks due to the first accident," Trooper Chris Ray said.
Ray said this does not count motorist assist vehicles stuck that DPS Troopers ran traffic control for until a tow truck or 3rd party could assist.
Also several vehicles pulling loads were safety escorted at slow speeds by DPS Commercial Enforcement Troopers to secure parking locations due to unsafe driving conditions.
DPS is warning drivers to continue to use caution on the roads. Slick spots will return once the roads freeze overnight.
