DPS: High speed chase ends in Potter County

DPS troopers surround stolen vehicle involved in high speed chase.

UPDATE: DPS has released new information. The vehicle involved in the chase was a stolen vehicle. Four people were inside the vehicle at the time and all four have been arrested. One of the occupants has been taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. DPS said the four suspects will be booked into the Potter County Jail. A high speed chase that began in New Mexico has ended just inside of Potter County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety they assisted with a chase that began in Tucumcari, New Mexico and finally came to an end just inside Potter County on Interstate 40.

DPS said they attempted to stop the vehicle by spiking the tires however the driver was able to avoid them and continue on Interstate 40. Troopers had to resort to using deadly force to stop the vehicle by shooting the tires.

At least one person has been taken into custody.

Scanner traffic indicates that drugs may have been thrown out of the vehicle during the chase.
