Discounts on microchipping, reclaim fees waived through the rest of 2017
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) —
The Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare will be offering a discounted microchipping service and waive reclaim fees in an attempt to save the lives of animals at the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society.
According to the City of Amarillo, AAM&W will offer a $10 microchipping service with lifetime registration starting immediately on Nov. 9 and continuing through Dec. 31 for any citizen residing in the Texas Panhandle.
Reclaim fees will also be waived through Dec. 31, however, the City said some exceptions include bite quarantines, dangerous animal cases, incurred veterinarian fees and Police Department impounds.
In addition to the discounted microchipping and waived reclaim fees, the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society has partnered with the High Plains Food Bank to host a pet adoption event in honor of Veterans Day. The City said Veterans will receive a half-off discount on adoptions, unless they are in uniform, in which case the fee will be $1. The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society located at 3501 S. Osage.
The City asks all those who attend the event to bring food items to donate to the High Plains Food Bank and the weight of the donation will be applied to the discount of the adoption fee. Items needed include canned tuna and chicken, peanut butter, dried beans and rice, canned vegetables, macaroni & cheese, pasta and boxed dinners.
