Crews working fire at Amarillo brush site
AMARILLO (KVII) —
Wednesday afternoon Amarillo fire crews responded to a fire at one of the city's brush sites.
Officials said they received a call about the fire at the site at 3718 South Eastern Street just before 5:00 pm.
Four trucks were on scene working to put out the blaze. According to officials on scene, the fire is about 50 feet wide by 100 feet long as of 6:20 pm. They are working quickly to try to contain it, but because everything in the area is green there isn't a large concern of it spreading.
Officials said they will likely let the fire burn for several hours and then bring in tractors to spread the brush out so they can put it out completely.
