Community comes together to help raise money for Ashlee Trevino

Amarillo's Tejano DJ Allstarz came together to host a benefit dance Sunday evening for Ashlee Trevino and her family.

Eight-year-old Ashlee was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in March 2013 during her spring break.

"She has been such a strong little girl throughout this whole journey," said Ashlee's mother, Maria Trevino. "She reached over and grabbed my hand and she said 'mom why are you crying,'. She said 'you know I'm going to be just fine.'".

The benefit dance that was hosted at Whiskey River, helped to raise money to pay medical bills as well as other expenses.

"The community takes care of us and this is our way of giving back to the community," said DJ Joe Casas. "To be called up on a mission like this is just an honor."

Donations will continue to be accepted at the First Convenience Bank for Ashlee Trevino.
