Clovis man charged with murder

Daniel Murrell III was charged Friday April 19, 2013 for one open count of murder.
Murrell is accused of beating Joe Garcia during a violent robbery on Jan. 4, 2013 in an alley at 11th and Mitchell in Clovis New Mexico. Garcia died at Plains Regional Medical Center Jan. 7th after Clovis police found him unresponsive in his home. Police said that Garcia had been recently released from a hospital in Lubbock just days before after he was taken there after the beating.
A medical examiner in Albuquerque New Mexico said that Garcia died from blunt force trauma to the head. His death was then ruled as a homicide.
According to Clovis police, Murrell was being held at the Curry County Adult Detention Center for two counts of robber, one count of aggravated battery, conspiracy to commit robbery, intimidation of a states witness, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, felon in possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence.
Murrell remains in the Curry County Adult Detention center without bond.
