City officials are warning Amarillo residents to beware of marketers calling and trying to sell advertising space for "the City of Amarillo".
According to the city, these marketers are not representatives of the official City of Amarillo and it is not connected to marketing on behalf of the city.
After dealing with a similar situation in October 2013, city officials would also like to remind residents and business owners that the official city website can be viewed at www.amarillo.gov. There residents can connect to services provided by the City of Amarillo such as:
· Apply for a job
· Reserve parks
· Pay your utility bill
· View public meeting dates, times and agendas
· View past City Council meetings from the archives and watch meetings live
· Get your questions answered through the "How Do I?" tab
· Access public documents, press releases, forms and more
As a precaution city officials wants residents to make sure to be sure of whom they are speaking with to avoid confusion. If you receive a phone call from someone attempting to sell advertising space on for the City of Amarillo be sure to ask for the caller's information such as name and phone number. You can then contact the City of Amarillo's Community Relations Coordinator, Sonja Gross to verify if the call is from the City of Amarillo or another entity. Gross can be reached at (806)378-3549.
