Major Ginger Nelson and the City of Amarillo will host the Jan. 2018 Texas Municipal League (TML) meeting on Friday.

Texas Panhandle Mayors, including Canyon Mayor Gary Hinders, will meet in the afternoon with many Texas legislative representatives to discuss steps on how Panhandle citizens and leaders can be more involved in serving on state boards and commissions. They will also discuss other ways the Panhandle can influence the laws and policies made in Austin.

“This is another way for leaders of the Texas Panhandle to have a shared vision,” said Mayor Ginger Nelson. “Together we have a stronger voice – one we want to be heard across the state and beyond.”

The keynote speaker, Dr. Clyde Rivers, is the founder and president of iChange Nations, a professional institution that builds statesmen by equipping, mentoring and training highly esteemed individuals who have the desire to change nations throughout the world.

According to the City, Dr. Rivers will speak on the Golden Rule Dialogue and how Panhandle leaders can implement positive change in the community.

The City said more than 130 people will be present.
