City of Amarillo honors Severe Weather Awareness Week

The Amarillo, Potter, and Randall County Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service Conducted a mock tornado drill Wednesday afternoon.
The mock tornado warning was a joint effort for many city and county officials.
"Today we had our emergency operation center activated so that included the office of emergency management, our Amarillo emergency services, different City of Amarillo departments from Amarillo Fire, Amarillo Police, our dispatches, and of course all the employees were participating as well from all departments", says Maribel Martinez of the Office of Emergency Management.
The Don Harrington Discovery Center is debuting its spring series, "Tornado Alley", in honor of Severe Weather Awareness Week. The center is showing it to educate visitors about tornado safety.
"It's a really exciting action film basically showing real-life scientists and they're pursuing of these amazing storms and trying to get the data so that they can actually help people in getting to safety faster
", says Discovery Center Executive Director, Dr. Aaron Pan.
