Chase Tower evacuated for smoke investigation

Emergency crews responded to the Amarillo Chase Tower in Downtown Amarillo for reports of a fire in the upper floors of the building Thursday morning at approximately 10:10 a.m.

According to Amarillo Fire Department, employees of the building were evacuated due to the investigation. Streets surrounding the building were also blocked off to traffic.

AFD said firefighters went floor by floor after the received smoke reports. The investigation finished when firefighters did not find a fire or smoke in the building.

There were no injuries and all employees have returned back to work at this time.
