It's a surprising view for visitors as they drive into Ceta Canyon, and the perfect place for church, school, and business retreats.
"I think what's amazing is, this is Gods oasis in the panhandle," said Ceta Canyon Executive Director. Mark Wentz "You come off the caprock and all of a sudden there's terrain!"
Sunday afternoon, staff welcomed the public to experience all the camp and retreat center has to offer.
"I'm excited to do the obstacle course," said Canyon Visitor Nadia Garza. "You get to zip line and rock climb."
Free of charge visitors were allowed to enjoy the countless possibilities Ceta Canyon has to offer. Hiking, fishing, ropes courses and lunch were available for visitors; a destination the staff said is a perfect place for rejuvenation, fun, and family time.
While everyone had their own reason for attending Sundays event, Wentz said the purposes of the open house was to educate the community about this year's summer camps.
Not only do they cater to church camps but many organizations.
"In addition to our ministries through churches and though Methodist programs, we have a variety of community based programs that we offer."
Ceta Canyon is open year round, 7 days a week.
