Tue, 14 May 2013 23:41:57 GMT — Center City of Amarillo revealed a plaque Tuesday afternoon dedicated to the Historic Fisk Building becoming a national historic landmark. â??The plaque shows itâ??s a Texas historical landmark,â?? said Executive Director of Center City, Beth Duke. â??We are so excited because we know as people pass by on historic Polk Street, they will stop and read the history of that plaque.â?? The Historic Fisk Building was built in 1927 and was originally known as the Fisk Medical Arts Building. The building is currently home to the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. It was nationally recognized on December 4, 2012 when it became registered on the nationâ??s list of historic places. Mayor Paul Harpole as well as members of Center City and the hotel attended the celebration.
